California Hotel and Casino is another Boyd property. The Cal opened in 1975 with over 300 rooms. It has since expanded. California is connected to Main Street Station via a upstairs connector. Located next to Circa near the Fremont Street Experience ( 12 E Ogden Ave, Las Vegas, NV 89101 ).
Because the California and Main Street are connected you get the best of both places. The Cal has the Aloha Restaurant along with a local favorite of Ethel M Chocolates . You can also cross over to the Garden Court and Triple 7. There is also a convenience store upstairs in the connector. They try to have a Hawaiian theme.

For example, there are plenty of machines to choose from to gamble on. There are also as many tables to play. Since this property is not on Fremont Street, it does not get that busy. Because of this you can get a break from the crowds. There is even a Cal Sports Lounge.
In addition, the best part about The Cal is that you are only steps away from Circa Resort and the Fremont Street Experience. Even though I have not gambled here I always walk through to see what is new. Plus, it is a great way to cross over from Main Street without having to go outside in the heat.
The Cal has a acclaimed Oxtail Soup. Despite having heard about this many of times, I have have not had the pleasure of trying it yet. Once again, something I will make it a point to try it. Slowly simmered for hours to soften the cuts and fill the broth with onions, carrots, peppers, celery flavor. I will add it when I eat it.
In conclusion, California Hotel and Casino is one of the few casinos near Fremont Street. It is one block off of the Fremont Street Experience. This is a nice casino to visit.
